Welcome to 221B Blog Street!

December 21, 2009

You won’t hear from me much in this blog.

This blog is designed to take you back to the thrilling days of serialized literature.  You’ll get one chapter a day from the Sherlock Holmes works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (and maybe a few other related things as well).  You don’t need to read them every day, but if you do, consider it your Victorian vitamin.

These works are legal in countries where copyright is Life+70 (or shorter).  Arthur Conan Doyle, the masterful creator of Sherlock Holmes, died on the 7th of July, 1930.  If you are uncertain of the copyright status in your country, please do not download the posts from the http://sherlockblog.wordpress.com site, where they are hosted on an American site.

Beginning with the next post, we’ll travel with Holmes and Watson from their first meeting through their further adventures.  The fog is rolling in like a white sea.  A bone-chilling sound is heard from the moor.  Esconced in our comfortable rooms here at 221B Blog Street, we hear footsteps approaching the door.

There is a knock…the game’s afoot!
